I hear the talking heads everyday Tryin' to tell me how I feel Left or Right, Black or white You know they're all the same to me Looking down with indignation From within the ivory, set on high How can they see what's real to me When their own ambition Is all that fills their eyes Yeah we're livin' In the Naked Time We're reachin' out for the hand of fate But she pulls away and cries Yeah we're livin' Lord in the Naked Time When did reason lose its voice When did sense become so vague "For and of the People" Died a slow and lonely death While allegiance to the dollar Puts our resilience to the test Looking down with indignation From within the ivory, set on high How can they see what's real to me When their own ambition Is all that fills their eyes Yeah we're livin' In the Naked Time We're reachin' out for the hand of fate But she pulls away and cries Yeah we're livin' Lord in the Naked Time Naked Time! Looking down with indignation From within the ivory, set on high How can they see what's real to me When their own ambition Is all that fills their eyes Yeah we're livin' In the Naked Time We're reachin' out for the hand of fate But she pulls away and cries Yeah we're livin' Lord in the Naked Time

about

And just like that, the Earth was closed (just as Tony Stark had stated). As the shut down due to Covid-19 kicked in and the dust settled, I observed that in the midst of this scary and uncertain time, there was a definitive silver lining. People were rediscovering the simple pleasures of spending time outside. People were hiking, kayaking, kids were riding bikes. People became concerned about their neighbors and we looked out for one another. And musicians, in spite of immediately being out of work, took it upon themselves to live stream performances to help take people’s minds off of the stress of the pandemic. People came together in new ways through video chats, and social distancing driveway visits. All of this togetherness occurring in spite of us being forced apart. An idea came to me that this was in fact a Reset for our society, a chance to reconnect with one another and focus on what was actually important. We had business meetings through video conferences, with pets and young children often interrupting (which as it turned out was not a bad thing). It was OK to “be human”. Now more than ever. And then the rioting started, and in spite of that, there were also many peaceful protests, with people of all ethnicities and backgrounds, as well as protesters and police alike, side by side promoting a vision of hope and the idea that we, each of us, are not the enemy. We all needed to be decent to each other as human beings. And so, my song took on a new meaning. I believe it is a reflection of our times. It holds a special place in my heart and I am proud of this song. I hope that it moves you and on some level you can relate to it too.
